Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: January 2026. The plain version: some links on this site earn us money. Here is how it works.
Overluking is free to read. To keep it that way, some of the links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, we may earn a small commission. It costs you nothing extra.
What is an affiliate link?
An affiliate link is a normal web link with a short tracking code attached. When you click it and buy from the retailer, the retailer knows the sale came from us and pays us a small percentage. The price you pay is exactly the same as if you had gone to the retailer directly.
Which links are affiliate links?
Affiliate links on Overluking appear on buttons and text links that go to a product page. You can spot them because they are usually labelled things like:
- Check price
- Options
- Find a cabin
- Find a campsite
If a link is not an affiliate link, it usually goes to a page on this site or to a non-commercial resource (like a national park page).
Which retailers do we use?
We currently participate in affiliate programs with outdoor retailers and travel booking platforms. This may include Amazon Associates and other similar programs. As we add more, we will update this page.
Does this change what we recommend?
No. We recommend gear and trips because we think they are useful, not because they pay us. When we describe a product, we say what it is good for and what it is not. If something is not worth it, we say that too, even if there is an affiliate link for it.
If we ever feature a sponsored post or a paid placement, it will be clearly labelled at the top of that page.
Do we know who you are?
No. We do not see who clicks our affiliate links or what you buy. The retailer keeps that information. We only see anonymous totals, such as "12 clicks and 2 purchases last month."
Cookies
When you click an affiliate link, the retailer may set a cookie in your browser that lasts for a short time. This is how they know to credit the sale to us. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. For more on this, see our privacy policy.
